Of a type found in the Transcaucasus and northern Iran, its design suggests it was used in place of the saber, probably for close fighting by infantrymen. With a large, kindjal-type horn grip with iron mounts, the blade of unusual length, straight, single-edged, and fullered along the spine, with a long, acutely-pointed tip.
