This is an Edwardian era officer's dress tunic and lance cap for the 5th Lancers. The tunic is composed of heavy blue fabric with scarlet collar, cuffs and plastron. The inside is lined with a tan wool and there is a green paper label on the inside at the bottom marked "W(broad arrow)D" with the date "Oct 1909" and the size is a 7. There are buttons of the 5th Lancers pattern and gold bullion cap lines/shoulder cords. The tunic is accompanied by an Edwardian era officer's Lance cap. The cap body and front peak are composed of black patent leather with gold lace around the waist and bottom edge. The peak has three bands of gold purl. The top is red melton cloth with ridged sides, gold bullion cord crossing the top and descending the angled corners and a gold bullion "ER/VII" plume boss supporting a peacock green feather plume with a ring. The gilt velvet backed chin chain is suspended by two gilt lion's head ear bosses. The gilt front plate is rayed with the King's crown at the top over the Royal Arms of Great Britain over the Irish Harp with 7 battle honors surrounding the harp and a banner at the bottom marked " FIFTH ROYAL IRISH LANCERS" all in silver. The front peak is lined with green skived leather, the sweat band is natural colored leather and there is a crimson silk lining with a "J. B. JOHNSTONE" gold embossed label.

Condition: The tunic is fine with a small tear at the top center of the plastron. The buttons have aged. The cap lines are excellent. The czapka is fine with some small areas of crazing and a few light scratches overall on the black patent leather. The gold lace and bullion cap lines are bright overall and may not be original to the group. The gilt components are bright overall with a few chin chain links bent. The silvered components have a dark aged patina. The lining has some stains.
