(5) MERION C. COOPER SIGNED LETTERS - A folder of (5) Merian C. Cooper signed letters. The letters are correspondence or regarding such between Cooper and a Stanford teacher named Orville Goldner. (1) 1pp 1936 letter responding with skepticism to the suggestion by Mr. Goldner that there be a filmmaking course taught in school. (1) 2pp typed letter with handwritten note at he end. The letter involves Cooper’s early works, including King Kong. (1) Handwritten 4pp letter in which Cooper discusses King Kong and a lifetime achievement award Goldner intends on presenting to Cooper at a proposed film festival. (1) 1pp A related letter from Charles Fitzsimmons about obtaining someone to accept Coopers award at Goldner’s film festival in his absence. (1) 4pp typewritten detailed account of Cooper’s career signed by Cooper. (1) Xerox copy of a 2pp letter from Goldner seeking work with Cooper. (1) And 1pp typed signed letter from Cooper letting Goldner down easy. All of the letters are in Very Good condition, with the exception of the last page of the handwritten Cooper letter which has had a corner torn and repaired with tape. The tear doesn’t interfere with any text.
