JC-30101-228 The Peace Dollar was coined from 1921 to 1928, and then in 1934 and 1935. The design by Anthony de Francisci, who won a competition to design a new dollar after the end of World War I. Like its predecessor, the Morgan Dollar, the Peace Dollar was 38 millimeters across, and made of 90% silver. After 1935, the U.S. produced no more true "silver" dollars for general circulation (even though the copper clad Eisenhower dollars, minted in the 1970s, are sometimes referred to as "silver dollars".
