<B>1909-O $5 AU58 NGC.</B></I> The 1909-O is the most conditionally challenging Indian half eagle. Only 34,200 pieces were struck, easily the lowest mintage of them all, and this mintmarked date is therefore also the premier absolute rarity of its type, and the key date to the series. This issue is usually seen in VF to XF condition, and weakly struck. The AU58 coin presented here displays better-than-average definition, though the eagle's left shoulder is a tad soft; the mintmark, though not fully impressed, is quite clear. The honey-gold surfaces exhibit luster in the recessed areas, and the expected light abrasions are scattered over each side.
