Rare enamel hanging badge and medal from the 1909 American Mining Congress Convention held in Goldfield, Nevada. This was a break-out convention, held purposefully in Goldfield upon the opening of the great new Goldfield Consolidated Mill, at the time the largest gold mill in America. It came on the heels of much mining labor unrest, and Wingfield, President of Goldfield Consolidated, wanted to show the world that mining was alive and healthy in Nevada, particularly Goldfield. The mill went on to process millions of tons of gold ore profitably for Wingfield and shareholders. Gilt plated brass, red, white & blue enamel. This is a beauty. State:Nevada City:Goldfield Date: ID#46938
