Colt Shooting Master double action prewar revolver in rare .45 Auto caliber with a 6” barrel, blued finish, checkered wood medallion grips, S/N 341482. Prominent collector and authors tag on the pistol reads “Assembled 10-21-1937, shipped 10-25-1937 to Western Hardware, San Diego for old friend Paul Dinant”. It goes on to state the lanyard was specially ordered and Dinant was game warden on Camp Pendleton U.S.M.C. base in San Diego County. The stamp of crossed keys on the side plate is Dinant family crest who hid money for Catholic Church during wars. The revolver retains 95%-98% of its original blue with a minor index line between cylinder stops. Sharp and crisp overall with very good plus grips. The action is tight and the bore is bright. A small amount of slight aging only. Approximately 200 made in this caliber and the shooting master was top of the line for Colt before WWII. Formerly “Bob Murphy” collection who authored a monograph on New Service models under this pseudonym. (C&R/No PPT) Est.: $2500-$5000
