18CB-2 COLT SAA #7396Colt Single Action “Artillery” revolver with U.S. Martial markings and in Custer range, S/N 7396. All matching except barrel which is numbered 7398. Dark brown patina with some blue mixed in. Good markings with some lighterosion and pitting. The grips are slightly undersized from old refinish with chips of wood missing from each toe. Correct rod, spring and ejector housing of early style. Good action and very good bore. All correctblack powder military issue parts. The front sight reduced slightly. Kopec catalogs the artilleries with just the barrels changed in his definitive work on the subject and they are somewhat scarcer than completely mixedartillery models. We have always liked the artilleries as they saw service for almost thirty plus years many on the frontier before being returned to arsenals and re-issued in Spanish American War.
