18AP-49 SMITH C.W. CARBINESmith saddle ring single shot percussion carbine, .50 caliber, Serial #8153. The carbine is in good overall condition with a 21 5/8” round to octagon barrel brass ramped blade with military tangent rear sights. The metal surfaces have gone to a pleasing smooth brown patina. The receiver is a grey/brown patina with areas of old, toning case hardening. The saddle bar and ring both retained as well as the barrel band. Thereceiver is marked, “ADDRESS/POULTNEY & TRIMBLE/BALTIMORE”. The smooth wood stock is in good condition with mars and compressions consistent with service use a smooth steel crescent butt plate. The bore is good, theactio9n crisp and markings are sharp on this Civil War carbine with production numbers approaching 30,000 per Flayderman’s. Est.: $500-$1,000.
