Government Printing Office 1880 4to xv and 201 pages of text plus 34 b/w plates of which 10 are folding plates. 40 b/w figures are included in the text pages. the folding plates are reinforced with cloth tape as issued.<p>Hardcover; ex-library; in original green cloth; heavy shelf-wear w/ corners bumped and chipped; top edge w/ chip; front board separated, w/ spine and boards attached w/ black tape; rear hinge reinforced w/ tape; first two end pages separate w/ chipped edges; acid paper brittle w/ a few nicks along fore-edge; last 3 plates w/ small light stain on fore-edge; o/w will be a good copy if rebound and end-pages repaired.<p>Author was a professor of paleontology at Yale. Report of the GEOLOGICAL EXPLORATION OF THE FORTIETH PARALLEL made by order of the Secretary of War according to Act of Congress of March 2, 1867, and March 3, 1869, under the direction of Brig and Bvt. Major General A. A. Humphreys, Chief of Engineers, by Clarence King U. S.
