Manufactured in 1875. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line Hartford address flanked by "+"s, no caliber marking on the left side, the underside of the barrel is marked with a small "C/P" directly ahead of the cylinder pin and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, two patent dates. Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard and back strap with the partial number "8714" on the cylinder, as well as a "P" and "C", and on the bottom of the barrel under the ejector rod housing. "Bull's eye" ejector rod head, blade front and frame notch rear sights, and fitted with a smooth one-piece walnut grip with a visible cartouche on the lower left side. No U.S. is present on the left side of frame which leads writer to believe it didn't pass final inspection and was rejected and sold on the civilian market.
