No maker's marks are visible on the 30 1/2" double fuller blade, with etched scrollwork on each side, showing an eagle with an "E PLURIBUS UNUM" ribbon on the right and "US" on the left, with "IRON PROOF" on the spine. Brass guard, with upturned rear quillion, cut-through floral designs, helmet pommel and a wire wrapped sharkskin grip. With a leather scabbard with engraved fittings, showing a shield and scrollwork on the throat, flowers and punch-dots on the suspension band, and an eagle on the tip. Also included are a Mills & Orndorff black canvas cartridge belt, a pebbled brown leather sword belt with matching hangers and a Henry V. Allien & Co "E Pluribus Unum" buckle, a brass "peace flask" with "1850" and "BATTY" on the cap, two "US" buckles, (one a brass faced lead oval, the other rectangular brass) and a M1 cleaning rod in a April, 1963 dated canvas case.

Condition: Good. The blade shows a mixed gray patina with light spitting, with the etching still clearly visible, the brass shows a strong gilt finish, with an aged patina on the exposed brass, and mild wear on the sharkskin. The holster is good, with cracking and flaking of the leather. The belts are good, with some scuffing and tiny tears on the sword belt, and fading on the cartridge belt. The buckles are fair, with a hook absent from the oval, mixed patina, and dents. The flask is very good, with a mixed aged patina and some dents.
