1828 N-11 R2 MS62
1828 N-11 R2 MS62. Lustrous bluish steel brown and olive with 20% of the planchet displaying faded mint color. Just a few trivial marks, including a dull vertical nick on the chin, a couple microscopic ticks in the field near the inner curl, and a tiny splash of darker toning at TE in STATES. Nicely struck EDS except for the very tip of the nose, which did not have enough planchet metal to completely fill that spot, plus a similar shallow depression on the browlock. The gross repunching on the first S in STATES and the O in OF is obvious. A very attractive cent, and it looks choice in every respect in spite of the minor defects. Called MS60+ and CC#2 in the Noyes census, his photo #56021. Bland says MS60+ as well but tied for CC#4 honors. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS64BN (NGC label included, and it shows the attribution).
Estimated Value $1,500-UP.
