Post-Revolutionary War to Civil WarGeorge III Era British Military Officer's Uniform Gorget
c. 1796, British Military Gorget, Gilt Brass, Crowned Initials of King George III, Extremely Fine.
This is an original, British Military Gorget, being a decorative part of an officer's uniform, which is believed to date to after 1796, but before 1830. This gorget measures 3.5" wide by 4.5" long, with a 1.5" space between the two arms, and has a brown copper colored interior. There are two very tiny cracks on the upper rim edge, left of the crown and there is a nice original overall patina to the metal. The engraved design is clear, bold and quite attractive.
