1739-P SOU M French Colonies Sou Marque MS63 PCGS. Breen-539. An unmarked example with light olive-tan toning across the otherwise slate-gray surfaces. A few minor laminations, as made, are seen on the central obverse. Double struck in the collar with marginal rotation of the piece relative to the dies between strikes. Evidence of the double strike is seen on the right side of the crown and opposite on the right side of the left fleur de lis. A moderate-sized planchet flaw on the reverse at 6:30 affects the B in BENEDICTUM. Population: 1 in 63, 0 finer (3/06).
